High-protein, low-carb dinner option
Minimal ingredients with big flavor payoff
Works as a main dish or elegant appetizer
Instructions
Step 1: Season the fish
Pat the swordfish cubes completely dry with paper towels.
Season evenly with salt and black pepper on all sides. Dry fish ensures a good sear.
Step 2: Sear the swordfish
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
Add the swordfish cubes in a single layer without overcrowding.
Cook for 3–4 minutes, undisturbed, until lightly golden on the bottom.
Flip once and cook for another 2 minutes until just cooked through.
Step 3: Add garlic and lemon
Lower heat slightly.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
Immediately pour in the lemon juice and add the capers. Stir gently to coat the fish.
Step 4: Finish the sauce
Cook for 1–2 minutes until the lemon sauce slightly thickens and coats the swordfish.
Remove from heat as soon as the fish is tender to avoid overcooking.
Step 5: Serve
Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.
Tips for Best Results
Do not overcook swordfish — it should be tender, not dry.
Keep the skillet hot for proper browning.
Add lemon juice at the end to keep the flavor fresh and bright.
If the sauce reduces too fast, add 1–2 tablespoons of water or broth.
